RIVERSIDE Ladies were good value for a 7-2 home win over St John's in Ladies Division One of the York Badminton League.
Margaret Sinclair and Hilary Seavers headed the home averages with three wins for 90-33, including a 10 and 9 over Lindsay Spicer and Sarah Manser, who took both student teacher successes.
In ladies two, University Staff Club visited Market Weighton and scored a 7-2 win. Susan Scott and Liz Fenwick put in the best Staff Club performance with three wins for 103-62.
Drax 'A' proved too strong for Shepherds by winning 6-3 in men's division one. Phil Brunyard and Andrew Neil had the best Drax series, ending the match with three wins for 94-56.
Riverside came back to form in mixed division one with a 9-0 home win over Rowntrees 'B'. Gwen Bentley and Ian McKinlay put in their best display of the season resulting in three straight wins for a total of 92-40.
Clifton 'A' pulled off a minor surprise with a 6-3 win at the University Student 'A' team. Ian Shore and Gill McIntosh took three vital wins for Clifton including a close 15-2, 8-15, 17-14 victory over Mike Jones and Sue Cooper.
RI Tuesday/Thursday 'A' went down 6-3 twice in mixed division two, at home to University Students 'B' and away at Huntington 'A'. The University match saw the student pairing of Nick Burton and Caroline Grubb take the honours with three wins for 95-65 including a tough 15-6, 5-15, 15-8 success over Marlene Woodward and Ian Sinker. Meanwhile, in the Huntington match Clive Debenham and Theresa Roberts-Hardy had their best series this season with three straight wins for 90-35.
Sheriff Hutton scored a comfortable 9-0 win at Millthorpe. Sheriff's Linda Fairclough and Andrew Daffern enjoyed three straight wins for a return of 90-46.
Clifton 'C' scored a ninth rubber 5-4 home win over Selby Jubilee 'A' in mixed three.
Although Jubilee's Roy Cannon and Lynne Redman took three wins for a total of 107-64, Clifton's Karen Hindmarsh and Mark Screeton sealed the home win with an eight and four over Andy Hatfield and Gill Soothill.
Drax 'D' scored an 8-1 home win over Pocklington 'B' in mixed division four.
The match was closer than the final score suggests with six rubbers going to a deciding end. Derek Burt and Chris Hyde picked up Pock's consolation with a 15-1, 4-15, 15-5 over Debra Prickett and John Donnelly.
Fulfordgate 'B' went down 6-3 at home to Huntington 'B' in mixed five. Steve Gates and Lisa Turner took the Huntington plaudits with three wins for 98-84, including a 15-6, 5-15, 15-12 over Peter and Gill Twidell.
University Students 'C' won 6-3 at Selby Jubilee 'C' in mixed division six. Ben Tilley and Helen Wardlaw supplied the match-winning student maximum for a total of 92-59, while Franni Milliosevic and Lynne Dawson took two Jubilee wins, but lost out eight and ten to Tilley and Wardlaw.
