PLANS for celebrations to mark the Queen's golden jubilee in June are being made all over York.
Cambridge Street Residents' Association is planning a party for the jubilee. It will be held on Monday, June 3, in the car park of the Crystal Palace pub in Holgate Road, and around the Cambridge Street estate.
There will be competitions, children's games and possibly a 1950s fancy dress competition.
The event which will include horseshoe pitching and a coconut shy, has been sponsored by local businesses. Miles Kingsport, in Holgate Road, is providing the insurance, and the landlord and landlady of the Crystal Palace are providing the balloons and bunting.
Residents of Furness Drive, Rawcliffe, York, will have a street party on Saturday, June 1, at 2pm.
There will be food, drink, a jubilee iced cake and a raffle. The Rev Brian Harris will toast the Queen.
