FORMER York City manager Alan Little was today recovering in York and District Hospital after undergoing an appendix operation.
Little, the current boss of City's Division Three rivals Halifax Town, was forced to withdraw from the Shaymen's trip to Leyton Orient on Saturday after suffering from stomach pains.
It is understood he underwent surgery to remove the appendix on Saturday night.
His recovery will not have been aided by the subsequent performance of his side at Brisbane Road. Halifax were beaten 3-1 to leave them further marooned at the foot of the basement division.
One-time Barnsley midfielder Neil Redfearn was in charge of the team at Orient as he will be tomorrow, in tandem with youth team coach Steve Thornber, for the visit of Rochdale to The Shay.
