A MURDER investigation has been launched after the death of a 16-year-old boy in Bridlington.
The boy, who has not been named but is from Marton Road in the resort, died in Scarborough Hospital last night from stab wounds to the stomach, police have said.
Officers were called to a private road off Marton Road by the ambulance service at about 10.45pm last night.
The boy was taken to Scarborough Hospital, but died shortly after arrival.
Today, a forensic examination of the area was being carried out by scenes of crime officers.
A post-mortem examination was due to be carried out this morning in Hull by a Home Office pathologist.
The identity of the 16-year-old boy is known, but police are having difficulty in finding the boy's immediate relatives.
A police spokesman said: "Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen anything suspicious in the Marton Road area of the town from 10.30pm last night onwards to contact them.
"In particular they are appealing for an 18-year-old youth that was allegedly at the scene to come forward as soon as possible."
