TEENAGER Jimmy Cooper has gained his first victory for All Saints' Amateur Boxing Club.
Cooper, 14, who lost on his debut at the end of last year, out-boxed and out-thought James Martin from Doncaster Plantworks ABC in a three-round 51kg contest at Scunthorpe.
After keeping his opponent at bay with his right jab, the Millthorpe School pupil began to find his way past Martin's defence with long right hooks through the middle.
The two fighters were toe-to-toe in the final round. Cooper, who is trained by Jack Raines, was given a unanimous points decision.
His club-mate and fellow 14-year-old Danny Smith was denied the chance to make his debut for the York club.
When he arrived at Scunthorpe he discovered that his scheduled opponent had a damaged ankle, so their fight had to be postponed.
