IN reply to the letter from Rachel Taylor ('Who's got a mobile?', February 21), the objections we have in Fulford to BT's proposal to install a phone mast at Heslington Broadway are many and varied, not least the possible health risk. City of York Council wisely turned down this proposal and now BT is appealing against the decision.
Home Secretary David Blunkett will have the final say. The Government decrees that health fears alone cannot be taken into consideration in determining the outcome of this appeal.
In answer to your question, whether we or our children have mobile phones is not the issue. We are against the health risks these masts impose in residential areas on everyone, including you Ms Taylor. I hope this clarifies matters for you.
