A BEST man was left red-faced twice - after a film clip of him fumbling around for two wedding rings was shown on national TV.
Colin Thompson not only had to endure a full eight minutes of impatient stares from wedding guests on the actual wedding day, but on Saturday night he was forced to suffer further embarrassment as the clip was shown on You've Been Framed. The film was taken at the wedding of his friend, Robert Umpleby, at St Peter's Church, in Norton, in September 2000.
"It wasn't as bad as it seemed but I was a bit embarrassed at the time," said Colin, who is the manager of Jacksons Food store, in Malton.
In the clip, Colin is seen to pat each one of the pockets on his morning suit when he is asked for the bride and groom's rings. As the minutes pass, Colin's face becomes redder and redder.
"I checked in every pocket, but I couldn't find it. They had dropped into the lining of my waistcoat," he said.
"Once I found it I was so relieved I gave a little bow to the wedding guests."
The clip proved so popular with the programme-makers, Colin was invited down to London to be in the audience when it was aired.
The video was shot by wedding guest John Piercy, who runs a tailors' shop in Malton.
