Acomb held on for a great 1-0 Yorkshire League division one home win against Sheffield University Bankers IV.
The South Yorkshire side passed the ball around well without actually putting much pressure on the Acomb defence. The best two opportunities of the opening half fell to David Richard, while Jamie Robinson also came close.
Acomb's short corners were a constant
threat and they came close several times to breaking the deadlock, but it needed several key tackles by man-of the-match Mathew Dickenson to keep Sheffield out.
Acomb finally scored when a quick break from Chris Foster resulted in the ball been squared for Adrian Nye to put the ball past the 'keeper.
