A YORK bus service has been the target of "mindless" vandalism.
A brick was thrown through the top side window of a new double-decker First York bus as it travelled along Danebury Drive, in Acomb, at about 11pm on Saturday night.
Managing director Brian Asquith said it was very fortunate that no passengers were injured.
"It's absolutely appalling," he said.
"We've only had the bus since Christmas.
"It cost us £160,000 and will be off the road until at least Wednesday.
"It was a solid brick and could have caused serious injury.
"We appeal for anyone who saw anything to come forward."
A spokesman for York police confirmed the incident had been reported.
First York was recently forced to withdraw a service in Haxby after bus windows were smashed four times in a week.
A driver was badly traumatised by the incident.
Anyone with information should contact York police on 01904 631321.
