YORK CITY were today celebrating fresh international honours.
First year trainee Levent Yalcin has been selected for the Turkey Under-18s squad to face their Dutch counterparts in Holland next month.
Yalcin returned from Turkey earlier this year after taking part in a training and selection camp in Istanbul.
Official confirmation of his call-up came yesterday. He will meet up with his international team mates next Wednesday with the match due to be staged in Holland on Wednesday, March 6.
Middlesbrough-born Yalcin qualifies for Turkey through his Turkish father.
He can play in midfield but can also operate in attack, a position he played for the reserves in their 2-1 midweek win over Darlington when Yalcin bagged City's opener.
Yalcin follows a long-line of City youngsters who in recent years have gone on to represent their country. They include Russ Howarth, Chris Hogg, Richard Cresswell, Jonathan Greening and Darren Williams.
