WHY not change the name of the Royal York Hotel to The Hopgrove and have done with it ('£5m and French name for Royal York Hotel', Feb 12)? In Finland it requires planning permission to change the name of a 'public building' and we could usefully do the same here.
As the 'Good Book' says, "Remove not the ancient landmark which thy fathers have made".
