Heworth 'A' continued their unbeaten run in the York Conservative Clubs' Carlsberg-Tetley Snooker League with a 6-1 demolition of Acomb 'B', writes Colin Robinson.
Heworth's winners were Richie Burdett, Steve Burdett (44 break), Keith Lawrence, Jason Milner, Dave Taylor, and Clive Whyte. Jeff Keen replied for lowly Acomb.
Bootham 'A' whitewashed Fulford 'B' 7-0 to move up two places into second position.
John Darley, Mark Darley and Colin Robinson made it 3-0 with black ball wins. The rout was completed by Brian Coulson, Peter Mills, Barry Rankin and Ken Taylor.
Bootham 'B' stay third after a 5-2 win over Fulford 'A'. Jeff Brown, Tim Fillingham, Fred Hough, Chris Granger and Ian Robinson won for Bootham with Phil Oliver and Wayne Puleston replying.
Acomb 'A' dropped down two places to fourth after a surprise defeat by improving Heworth 'B'.
Mick and Peter Frampton won early frames for Acomb but wins by Huw Faircliffe, Alf Appleton, John Sherlock and Keith Watkinson won the match for Heworth, though Gerald Mackenzie secured a remarkable last frame for Acomb.
Despite gaining four points for a foul his opponent Mike Braithwaite failed to pot a ball and Mackenzie won 83-4 with breaks of 31 and 28.
With the defeat of George Toone, Jason Milner and Clive Whyte remain joint leaders in the Willsden Steel player of the year event with nine wins from ten games.
Steve Burdett made a 44-break, but Clive Whyte still leads with a 58 break in the North Wolds Printers' highest break placings.
League leaders Acomb increased their lead to ten points in the York Conservative Clubs' Faber Shield Billiards League with a 5-2 win over challengers Bootham 'A'.
Successes from Ian Gillies, Keith Myers, Bob and Trevor Ventress also secured the aggregate point. Peter Mills and Ken Taylor, both on minus handicaps, won for Bootham.
Bootham 'B' had a comfortable 6-1 victory over bottom-placed Fulford as a result of wins by Tim Fillingham, Chris Granger, George Long, Ian Robinson, and Ray Stamp.
Richard Stroughair gained a consolation point for Fulford.
Ian Gillies and Ken Taylor are joint leaders in the Cameo Engraving player of the year competition with seven wins from eight games.
Ken Taylor also heads the Cameo Engraving highest break competition with a 69 break.
Acomb and Bootham continued their battle for the York Conservative Clubs' Slater Cup Snooker Pairs championship as Bootham went top again, but only as a result of a 7-0 victory over bottom-placed Fulford.
They took the first two frames on the black but easily won the next four and the aggregate by 129 points.
Acomb's 6-1 success at Heworth was aided by four black ball frames and Heworth's point came from a similar win.
