SIGNS warning motorists of a pedestrian crossing on the A64 at Bilbrough Top are finally in place.
This measure, plus the outlawing of U-turns via the central reservation, will make a dangerous stretch of road that bit safer.
The Highways Agency has taken too long to install the signs - they were first promised almost a year ago. But now they are up, we urge drivers to take heed of them.
To maximise safety at this blackspot, the gap must be closed and a flyover built. We will continue to campaign for exactly that.
