PRIME Minister Tony Blair has promised to continue investigating the case of arms dealer Peter Bleach after being contacted by York MP Hugh Bayley.
Bleach, a former St Peter's schoolboy from Fylingthorpe, near Whitby, has been in an Indian prison for more than six years for his part in dropping arms and ammunition to rebels in West Bengal. An appeal against his sentence started earlier this week.
The Prime Minister took up Bleach's case with the Indian Home Affairs Minister during a visit to the country earlier this year.
In a letter to Mr Bayley, Mr Blair said:"He (the Indian Home Affairs Minister) has undertaken to look into it again."
