Melanie Hayward (Road Runners Club) made sure of her £100 by taking almost four minutes off the ladies' record and was nearly five minutes ahead of second placed Emma Latto (Herne Hill Harriers) who was visiting her parents Brian and Sheila Latto, both keen Knavesmire Harriers.

The first three runners, all internationals, finished together, the official places being Daniel Andrew Sipe 29-41 secs (Tanzania) from twins Ian and Mark Hudspith (Morpeth Harriers) just one second covering all three.
First of the York runners to finish was Matthew Turner (Hull/Knavesmire) in 60th-place followed by veteran Knavesmire Harrier David Varley who clocked 40-46. First York lady was Sue Maude (Living Well Gym) in 48-05.
