PICKERING Town's season suffered another setback as they went out of the Northern Counties East League Cup last night, beaten 3-2 at Glasshoughton Welfare.
"It is bitterly disappointing because we gave them three goals," said Pickering boss Jimmy Reid. "Where eight or so weeks ago we were defending as a team, now we have let ourselves down in that department."
An own goal and Mark Wood's strike saw Pickering 3-2 down at the interval but despite creating good scoring chances in the second half they failed to draw level.
Goole were taken to extra time by division one outfit Staveley as their third round tie ended 2-2. Harrogate Railway go to Brigg Town tonight (7.45pm) for their third round clash.
Harrogate Town remain well on course for the treble, after they secured their second semi-final spot of the season with a 2-1 win over Guiseley in the West Riding FA County Cup.
Craig Elliott, who missed a much of the early part of the season through injury, got the Wetherby Roaders off to a flying start with the opening goal after only 14 seconds.
Skipper Robbie Whellans made it 2-0 and although Guiseley pulled one back, Town were never in serious danger of letting the tie slip.
