VISITORS to York Minster will now be able to admire a 15th century painting that has been hung in the Eastern Crypt.
Christ At The Column, by Antonio Pollaiuolo, has been lent to the Minster by the Earl and Countess of Harewood and the trustees of Harewood House for display during Lent and Easter.
The Canon Theologian, the Reverend Dr Jonathan Draper, will be focusing on the painting during his weekly Lent lunchtime addresses, and it will also be the subject of a lecture at the Minster tomorrow evening by Neil MacGregor, director of the National Gallery, and Lord Habgood, former Archbishop of York.
The painting is normally hung in the Long Gallery at Harewood House. Entry to the Eastern Crypt will be free until April 5.
For more information contact the Minster on 01904 557200.
