Leaders Britannia 'A' also had their captain, Chris Swales, playing with Rachael Potter, taking the decider against second-placed Clifton.
Severus went joint second when their last pair, Linda Davies and Mavis Gallimore, settled the match after Sue Richardson-Sheila Elliott had put Holgate level.
Woolpack, well led by Pat Price, polished off Puss 'B' 7-2 to keep the pressure on division three leaders Jubilee, whose Maxine Midgley sealed a 5-4 win at Ebor.

Roz Kerr shot out on 84 for 24 darts and Sue Lowery hit the tons as division one leaders, Brigadier, beat Dringhouses 6-3.
Second-placed Phoenix 'B' were done no favours by their 'A' team whose Jane Wright, Clair Cooper and Sandra Winters made it 3-3 in the singles. But, Angie Hields-Lindsey Sawyers edged the 'B' team in front and Tracey Farmeary-Jayne Janes narrowly secured the 5-4 victory.
After scoring 140,140,100,107, the double finish denied Martyn Turner (Leeman 'A') an outstanding York John Smith's Mixed League game.
However, Turner still recorded a splendid 17-darter. Huntington won the match 6-3, Harry Watson and Tracey Farmeary in good form.
Barry Noble notched 18 darts and a hundred finish from Mick Willsden, partnering Doreen Johnstone, took the last game win for Golden Slipper 'B' over Escrick.
Sun Inn's margin at the top of York White Rose Ladies League division one was severely affected when Yvette Shepherd shot 22 darts to give Victoria Vaults a 4-3 result.
Second-placed Fulfordgate enhanced their chances by beating Deramore 6-1, closed by 23 darts from Karen Reasbeck.
New York had a superb 17-dart winner in Rose Grimes and Marion Greenwood gamed in 23 to beat Fulford Conservatives 5-2, while Coach comfortably climbed to joint top place in division two, Amanda Bevan the only one to win for Crystal Palace.
