THREE-QUARTER Craig Moore has signed for York Wasps for his fourth stint at Huntington Stadium.

The bustling centre rejoins the Wasps after a spell with Northern Ford Premiership rivals Gateshead Thunder, although he will have to wait to make his debut as he is cup-tied for tomorrow's Challenge Cup visit of Villeneuve.

He had joined the North East outfit from York at the start of this season but as the club have a new cost-cutting policy of employing only locally-based players, he has been forced out.

And Wasps were first to take advantage, signing him for the rest of the season. "We're glad to have him back," said chief executive Ann Garvey.

"We've been looking for a centre and Craig has possibly been coming into his own again now."

Having rejoined Wasps at the start of the last campaign from Hunslet, he scored four tries early on and remained the club's top scorer for the season.

However, he had a mixed year, quitting when the club went into a CVA and returning only to get injured, playing in a total of 15 matches during the season.

In 1998 he scored five tries in 12 appearances for Wasps, and in his first spell in 1996 notched two tries in 11 appearances.

- The future of rugby league's north east outpost, Gateshead Thunder, is in grave doubt.

Following the axing of coach Andy Kelly and 15 Yorkshire-based players, the cash-strapped Tynesiders have now been hit by the resignation of chairman Steve Worsnop and the withdrawal of major backers Kicks Leisure.
