Selby Town will be out to follow the example of Pickering Town when they take on Brodsworth tomorrow in the Northern Counties East League premier division.

Local, as well as promotion, rivals Pickering thumped Brodsworth 8-1 on Tuesday. The Robins will be keen to get in on the goal-scoring front.

Selby, who finally ended their winless streak with a 3-2 victory over Harrogate Railway on Saturday, are also desperate to return to the promotion race.

"It was good win for us, especially as we dominated the game," said Lyon. "Hopefully this will be the start of a winning run for us.

"You never know with Brodsworth. One day they've got a good team out, then they haven't. Hopefully they'll have the same side out as the other night."

The only change to the Selby ranks sees Richard Tomlinson return to the squad.

Promotion-chasing Pickering Town can prove they are over their stutter by seeing off Armthorpe at the Recreation Ground.

Boss Jimmy Reid, whose faith in his team was restored by the eight-goal demolition of Brodsworth, said: "We beat Armthorpe 3-1 away this season and after getting four points in the last two games this is another chance to prove we're back on track."

After watching their five-match run of victories brought to a shuddering halt by Selby, Harrogate Railway will look to take their anger out on Denaby.

And having scored goals for fun in recent weeks, Rail will seek to cause Denaby's defence - the division's worst - a sorry afternoon.

However, with Denaby shocking Arnold Town 2-1 in midweek, boss Paul Marshall is now wary of a potential slip-up.

"They had an excellent win over Arnold," he said. "I'm now treating them with the greatest respect.

"These are the type of games we need to win. They are only three points behind us now, but I'd like to think we can win it."

Rail will be without Danny Ames and Ian Hart, while Steve Haddon is struggling with knee and ankle injuries. Kevin Smith and Steve Hartley will step in.

Goole could do Selby and Pickering a favour by toppling runaway leaders Alfreton Town.

It has been a roller-coaster week for Tadcaster Albion and Wayne Day will want his troops to finish it off the way it started when they meet Louth United.

A shock 4-2 victory over division one rivals Hatfield Main was negated by a heavy 5-0 defeat by Bridlington Town in the Wilkinson Sword Trophy in midweek.

Now Day wants Taddy to bounce back against the side just four points behind them in the table.

With the West Yorkshire League premier division title effectively beyond their reach, Nestl Rowntree could be forgiven taking their collective foot off the gas.

But with Jim Collis and Jon Reynolds in charge, this will not be the case, with Nestl set to be all fired up for their clash at Armley Athletic.

"If I was a betting man I won't put any money on us winning the title, but you never know what will happen," said assistant-boss Reynolds. "If we don't win, we'll certainly have a say who will."

Nestl will be without Rob Ellis and Alex Dewhirst tomorrow's.

After securing their first win - and scoring their first goals - of 2002, Knaresborough Town travel to local rivals Wetherby Athletic in confident mood.

Town know all about the Ings-based club, with boss Ian Singleton formerly in charge at Athletic.

Harrogate Town are facing a fixture backlog ahead of their trip to Ossett Albion.

The Wetherby Roaders, who currently top the UniBond League first division, have five games in hand on their closest rivals, while they have two semi-finals still to fit into their busy schedule.

Fortunately the enforced break from action through waterlogged pitches has meant the club have had the chance to shake off their injury problems.

Former York City striker Iain Dunn is still out, as is Chris Hudson, but Robbie Whellans and Andy Shelton are both back.
