Nathan Hill, champion for the last four years, will play No 2 seed Jamie Hopwood in York Men's Squash Open Championships final at York RI tomorrow in a repeat of the last two year's.
In the first semi final last night No 2 seed Jamie Hopwood beat Milford's Anton Green (3) in straight sets.
Hopwood started aggressively and never let his opponent settle into any rhythm.
Relentless pressure by Hopwood caused Green to make several mistakes. With Green's drops not coming off and loose drives Hopwood stormed through the first 9-1. In the second game Green battled hard to get into the game finally finding a length but Hopwood with disguise and accuracy went ahead 3-1. Green could only manage one more point before closing out the game 9-2. In the third game Hopwood showed no mercy and took the match 9-0 on his first match ball in 29 minutes. Hopwood beat Green 9-19-29.
The second semi-final's first game between Hill and Lowery took 22 minutes.
Hill beat Lowery 9-5 10-8 9-4 (50 minutes).
In the Men's Vintage Championships No 1 seed Mark Thompson will meet Kirkbymoorside's Dave Goddard in a repeat of the veterans' quarter-final.
Tonight's Men's Plate final sees Stillington's Rob Taylor player York's Owen Humphries both had comfortable semi final victories.
Friday's Order of Play at RI SRC: 6.30pm Men's Plate Final followed by Vintage Plate Final.
Saturday's Order of Play at RI SRC: 6.30pm Vintage Final followed by Ladies Final and Men's Final.
