LIVESTOCK markets are to re-open next week if they comply with rules so strict they will hardly be viable (February 5).
Whatever rules are imposed they will do nothing to reduce the risk of another outbreak of foot and mouth disease, but only prevent it spreading.
The virus will be imported so strict rules must be imposed on all food imports, but this aspect is being totally ignored.
Farmers are a much easier target.
