Yorkshire CND today urged Tony Blair to refuse permission for Menwith Hill and Fylingdales to be used for Son Of Star Wars.
Simon Bowens, spokesman for the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament in the region, said the missile defence project would breach the anti-ballistic missile treaty and provoke a new nuclear arms race.
"In the week when George W Bush visits Britain, Tony Blair should show strength and commitment to developing international moves to eliminate nuclear weapons.
"He should join the international rejection of Son of Star Wars and refuse permission for the bases in Yorkshire to be used for these dangerous purposes."
