PANCAKE day is just around the corner, but St Mary's Priory, in Old Malton, has already started preparations.
The Rev John Manchester is looking forward to welcoming visitors to the church on the big day.
"On the evening of February 12th we are holding a special pancake evening," he said.
"Parishioners will be on hand to serve up some delicious pancakes along with treacle sugar and lemon toppings.
"We will also be serving coffee and tea and there will be a bring-and-buy sale, a raffle and a quiz.
"My favourite pancake is one served up with fresh fruit, Grand Mariner and some treacle."
Parishioners are also invited to attend services at the church the following day on Ash Wednesday.
"We will have a communion service at 9.30am and then a service with the Priory choir at 7.30pm," said Mr Manchester.
"Everyone is welcome to come along and celebrate Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday."
Entry to the pancake celebration, which takes place from 7pm-9pm, is £1 for adults and 50p for children.
