NEIL Wood, winner for the past three years, beat Bootham's Mark Darley 2-0 in reach the last eight of York Conservative clubs' Scruton Cup snooker individual knockout competition.
Wood will play his Heworth team colleague Jason Milner for a place in the semi-finals.
Clive Whyte (Heworth) had a 2-1 success against Richard Stroughair (Fulford) and goes on to play Jeff Brown (Fulford).
John Darley (Bootham) will next play Brian Coulson (Bootham) after both had 2-0 victories. Phil Carlton (Acomb) is away to Bob Smith (Fulford) in the last eight.
Wood made breaks of 34 and 35 to beat Ken Bowser (Acomb) 2-0 to move into York Conservative Clubs' Foster's Challenge Trophy, where he will meet Colin Robinson (Bootham).
Ken Taylor (Bootham) won 2-1 against Clive Whyte and next plays Dave Taylor (Heworth). Brian Coulson beat Jeff Brown 2-1 and will now play Fred Hough (Fulford). Roger Gibson (Fulford) has drawn Mick Frampton (Acomb).
Clever Trevor
Defending champion Richard Stroughair (Fulford) was beaten by former champion Trevor Ventress (Acomb) in the second round of York Conservative clubs' Hylton Foster billiards knockout competition.
Stroughair now plays Colin Robinson, who had breaks of 37 and 28 in his win over John Darley.
Paul Clark (Acomb), who beat Phil Carlton, next plays Keith Myers (Acomb).
Peter Webster (Heworth), the first winner of the event in 1991, will be at home to Colin Robinson in the second round of York Conservative clubs' Hunters Motor Spares Over-50s snooker competition.
Three-times winner Ken Taylor plays Ian Gillies (Acomb). Trevor Ventress, the champion in 2000, faces Mick Frampton. Defending champion Brain Birch (Heworth) has drawn Chris Granger (Bootham).
Wood made breaks of 53, 42 and 35 in helping Heworth 'A' to a 7-0 win and a semi-final match against Bootham 'A' in York Conservative clubs' Team Snooker Cup. Fulford 'A' entertain Acomb 'A' in the other semi-final.
