CROSS-COUNTRY

THERE were some fine results for York athletes representing North Yorkshire Schools against Humberside at Beverley.

North Yorkshire won all age groups except year seven boys with superb individual victories for Victoria Graves (Arch) in Year 7 and for Emma Macalister-Hall (St O) who set aside her defeat in the recent County Schools Championships to give her most impressive run of the season.

Ruth Tinsley (Selby) and Nina Batt (Tadcaster) also came back from disappointing results at Skipton to run much more strongly and record good placings.

In the year seven age group Graves' win was followed up by good results for two promising newcomers - Joanna Mason (Mount) and Vicki Neadham (Canon Lee) who finished third and fourth.
