ONE of the delights of York when I was a student (1975-1979) at the then College of Ripon and York St. John, was Welsh rarebit, served in a silver dish in Terry's panelled restaurant.
An appeal to Terry's to discover the exact recipe failed because no one who had worked in the kitchens could be traced. I should be grateful if anyone who cooked the recipe would let me know the ingredients and exactly how it was done.
It was the best I have ever eaten, and I long to taste it again.
