A YORK businesswoman who was born 50 years ago today - the day the Queen acceded to the throne - is celebrating both landmarks by holding a special Jubilee sale.
Ainslie Waller, who runs Make Your Mark, a rubber stamp shop in Goodramgate, is also marking her shop's 15th birthday, making the five-day sale a triple celebration.
Miss Waller was born in an Army hospital in Rinteln, Germany on February 6 1952, and is one of an estimated 3,000 people in Britain to share the historic birthday.
Her family, including her mother Ruth and father William Waller, lived all over the world before settling in York in the late 1950s.
Miss Waller said the Jubilee celebrations were especially important to her and she has applied for a ticket to the Buckingham Palace garden party.
She said: "It's golden, it is a special round 50, both for my birthday and the Queen's anniversary."
The sale will continue until the weekend.
Other York-born "Accession Babies" include David Wharton, who now lives in Aberdeen; Sharon Ramsden, nee Dalton, who now lives near Basingstoke; and Christopher Jessop, whose parents, Nancy and Owen, still live at Pocklington.
There is still time to apply for the Buckingham Palace garden party, which will be held on Tuesday July 9.
Local people should send their applications to Lord Crathorne, Crathorne House, Yarm, Cleveland, before February 15 or telephone 01642 70043.
Eligibility is limited to those born on February 6, 1952, but includes people born overseas on this date who are now living in the UK as British citizens.
A similar garden party was held at Buckingham Palace in July 1997, celebrating the Queen and the Duke's Golden Wedding anniversary, to which couples married in the same year were invited.
