A CHILD witness has told a jury that she saw a man stabbed in a North Yorkshire street.
She was one of six schoolchildren who have now given evidence in the murder trial of Thomas Edward Richardson at York Crown Court.
A second child witness told how she lay in bed listening to fighting in the street outside and banging on a front door.
Richardson, 43, of Primrose Grove, Selby, denies the murder of near-neighbour Andy Campbell on August 5, 2001.
All three witnesses on day three of the trial were children.
The eldest alleged that she saw Richardson in the doorway of his house holding a kitchen knife.
Giving evidence by video and through a TV link, she alleged the 43-year-old aimed the weapon at the face of James Collins, who was outside the house.
The other man avoided the blow and the knife went into Mr Campbell's body.
She also alleged that Mr Campbell told Mr Collins "just leave it" and pushed him aside.
She gave differing descriptions of exactly where Richardson was at the time.
The jury has heard that the victim died shortly after the stabbing.
The youngest child said she saw Richardson arguing with other children in the street and a third child witness gave evidence that the man had insulted a boy in the street.
The trial continues.
