YORK ladies moved into the last 16 of the Yetton Trophy after a convincing 93-70 victory over Blackpool Newton Hall.
Linda Harrison, Melanie Brooke, Joyce Chelin and Lynda Parker drew level with a three at 3-3 on the fourth end before scoring 12 shots over the next five ends, including a five to lead 15-4, to set them on their way to a convincing 35-16 victory.
Pat Napier, Sue Tomlinson, June Clayton and Dot Kennelly, playing against England international Di Hunt, had a great start leading 11-0.
The game was slow with numerous dead ends and the time limit expired with two ends still to play though it wouldn't have altered the eventual 19-11 home win for Napier's team.
At Blackpool, Sue Chilton, Trish Harrison, Maureen Walker and Madge Zimnoch countered from an early deficit to take an 18-8 lead. Newton Hall responded with a six and then a two, but the York Ladies got back in the groove to win 25-20.
In the other away rink, Carole Instone, Pat Wilson, Ann Redhead and Joan Jackson lost 23-14, but York now meet Darlington on February 7.
