FIRST York City chairman Douglas Craig stated he and his board were never in it for the money but they were entitled to a return on their investment for all the work that they had put in over the years.
We have never taken a dividend, unlike other club directors, they said.
Then when a consortium of businessmen and the council offers a compromise of their initial investment, plus a fair profit for their efforts, they say "you can't afford us" (January 26)).
It would appear that they are being economical with the truth.
How are we to determine how much credence to give to the rumour that the £4.5 million price tag includes their souls and their grandmothers' teeth?
