FANS organising the launch of the York City Supporters' Trust on Friday have unveiled more details about the historic event.

It has been confirmed that ITV sports commentator and City fan Jon Champion will host the evening at the Barbican Centre, kick-off 7.30pm.

A string of former City stars have also added their support to the launch of the Trust and will be in attendance.

Yorkie, the club's infamous mascot, is also being lined up to entertain the crowd.

The meeting will include a summary of the activities of the Save City Campaign since the idea for a Trust was given overwhelming support at a first public meeting earlier this month.

The success of other Supporters' Trusts up and down the country will be highlighted, the working party will provide its findings and the Trust's vision for the future of professional football in York will be unveiled.

Speaking on behalf of the Save City campaign, Sophie McGill appealed to the people and businesses of York to attend Friday's launch and pledge their support to the Trust.

"York City Football Club is an asset to our historic city and the county of North Yorkshire," she said.

"We want to deliver a stronger club that will further enhance the status of the city and strengthen its community for future generations.

"We want the people and businesses of the area to back us and support the City."

She added: "Over the past couple of weeks business representatives of the Trust have been in negotiations with key parties regarding the future of the club and Bootham Crescent.

"All key parties have recognised that the Trust has a pivotal role to play, not only in negotiating a deal for stakeholders within the next few weeks but also in the future success of their plans for the club and the ground."

Those in attendance will be able to sign up as Trust members with annual membership costing £10 for adults, £5 for juniors and £100 for life membership.

Individuals and businesses are to be encouraged to invest more than the minimum fees so as to help the Trust achieve its aims.

The Evening Press will reproduce membership forms in Saturday's editions.

In addition, application forms will also be available at City's match against Lincoln City on the Saturday.

The game has been designated as a Fans United Day, with all football supporters encouraged to put aside their rivalries and visit Bootham Crescent to help raise the profile of City's plight.

Furthermore, fans can find details of how to join as a member at the Trust's official website on www.saveyork.co.uk
