YORK Rugby Union Club Colts achieved the double over Hull Ionians with a 38-19 win at Brantingham Park.
Phil Connor and Dan Greenwood dominated the line-out, Lewis White had an inspired game in the loose and held the scrum magnificently, and Ben Kenyon had an outstanding game on the blindside.
York had two early setbacks, when Matty Gosling and Daniel Lloyd went off injured, but the squad got on with the job.
Indraneil Basu scored under the posts after handing off two defenders. Jones converted.
Ionians came back at York with a score, but York scrum-half David Bell scampered round the blind side to score in the corner to re-establish the lead.
Basu ran in from his own 22 to give York an impressive half-time lead. Jones converted.
White, Jim Carruthers, and Dan Greenwood took on Ionians with powerful surges, setting the ball up for Russell Dovey to release Adam Lee to score. Hopkins converted.
Great tackling by Nic Jackson was followed by Basu scoring his third try, and Hopkins converting. Hopkins scored a try as the final whistle blew.
