COMPANIES in York and North Yorkshire will converge on Yellow Pages printers RR Donnelly at Flaxton Moor, near Knaresborough, next Tuesday to learn how to grapple with green issues.

The giant printing site will be the venue for this year's first "Managing Today" event staged by YORTEK, the association of high-tech companies and businesses in related growth industries in the region.

The theme of the seminar is environmental management systems. It will allow delegates to keep pace with existing and impending "green" legislation.

The seminar will conclude with a tour of RR Donnelly's facilities to demonstrate how improved environmental management can contribute to cost reduction and increased profits. North Yorkshire County Council established YORTEK 15 years ago. Since then, it has worked closely with agencies and organisations across the county to influence polices and strategies which impact on technology businesses.

Carol Renahan, of YORTEK, said: "Anyone wishing to attend should pre-register by calling 01609 532681 or send an e-mail to info@yortek.co.uk before tomorrow. We would also be pleased to forward information to anyone who is interested in learning more about the issues covered, but who cannot make it along on the day."
