It seems unjust that the directors of York City, lead by chairman Douglas Craig, who paid around £200,000 for their shares, can close down the club and sell the ground for their own profit which I believe is around £4.5 million.
This is made worse by the failure of the FA to act in enforcing their own Rule 34 which is designed to avoid separation of the assets i.e. the ground, into a holding company which can be sold off.
York City Supporters Trust deserve applause for their very sensible and reasonable approach to the club board which allows the board to resign with honour and some profit, while giving the club a chance to survive.
If redevelopment of the Bootham Crescent ground becomes the best option for all I urge the city council to continue backing York City Supporters Trust to ensure the club's survival.
