A BLOCK of 64 flats could face on to Layerthorpe if councillors support it this week.
The four-storey building would stand on the site of the Volkswagen dealership which moved to Clifton Moor last year.
It would include a courtyard with space to park 55 cars, which would get onto the site from an entrance on Hallfield Road.
The plans have received opposition from some neighbours.
"Letters of objection have been received from the adjacent tyre and battery depot and from one of the houses on the opposite side of the street," said Mick Britton, City of York Council's development control officer.
But he is recommending councillors to approve it when they meet on Thursday.
