THE year 2002 is turning out be quite fruitful for Selby.
A victory over West Park Bramhope and a draw against Pontefract, coming on top of a big win over Pocklington before Christmas, had seen Selby claw away from the bottom end of the table.
And on Saturday, they made it seven points out of a possible eight when they comfortably saw off the challenge of Sheffield Tigers 25-13.
Although the scoreline might not have been as convincing as the 42-19 rout earlier in the season, Selby put in a disciplined display.
After seeing Sheffield take an early lead, Selby came roaring back to score three tries.
Duncan Phillips, who was back in the side after missing the 13-13 draw with Pontefract last week, ex-Nottingham centre John Webster and Martin Bramley all crossed the whitewash to put Selby in control.
Carl Paterson added ten points with the boot to see Selby move two points clear of York and just two points behind the Tigers in mid-table.
