YORK City fan Chris Wilson flew from the Mediterranean island of Cyprus to be at today's match.
He had to buy himself a new City jersey after his luggage - containing his beloved shirt and scarf - was left at the airport.
Chris, 29, a Minstermen fan for more than 24 years, forked out more than £300 to make the game. He is serving as a search and rescue aircraft engineer at the RAF's Akrotiri base.
"Some would call me mad, but I would call it pure passion," he said.
Chris, from Acomb, will fly back to Cyprus tomorrow.
