TRAFALGAR Bay battled to another notable victory in York John Smith's Men's League division one, beating Shepherd 'A'.
Second-placed Shepherd A had Mick Willsden shooting a fine 14-darter but Ron Simpson replied with 18 and Kelvin Frankel paired with Paul Keers to grab the last-game decider.
Sun's lead was extended with a 6-3 at Yearsley which included a splendid 16 darts from Tony Cooper and 17 by Chris Thompson.
Trevor Day started Poacher off with a tremendous 16-darter when Barry Noble (Dringhouses) narrowly missed out on 15. Ray McInally added with a superb 17 but Dringhouses fought back to lead 4-3.
However, Shaun Day-Lee Brundrett levelled and McInally-Gary Kynman won the decider.
Phil Smith-Garry Strider squeezed a last-game 5-4 for Vaults over Shepherd 'B' while Kevin Graham-Alistair Horne settled Saddle's match with Flag.
Steve Schofield and Kevin Fallowfield were on hand to get Institute 'B' a ninth-game victory at Phoenix while Mike Harrison-Rich Beddows took Green Tree 'A' to victory over Groves.
Holgate beat Sun 6-3, Mick Brookes including a maximum as did both Mick Addinall and Pete Cooper (his first-ever match 180) in Osbaldwick's 6-3 against Slip.
A fine bull finish for 20 darts from Steve Reynolds and a splendid 18-darter from Rob Platt put Slipper in the driving seat. Nevertheless Mitre rallied to take the next five games for victory, John Pickering (18) in marvellous form.
A 17-darter from David Pilmoor set Escrick on their way to a comfortable 7-2 win over Clifton 'B' whose Darren Blake was their only singles success.
Clifton 'A' team's Neil Hart included a maximum for 19 darts in their 7-2 defeat of Bishopthorpe while Dave O'Hara stood out for Bay Horse 'A' against Tap, whose best performer was Mick Nixon.
Division two leaders Cygnet had John Miller in 20-dart form against Crescent 'B'.
A 19-darter from Howden's Mike Harris levelled the scores at 3-3 but Acomb took the pairs while Mick Powell played well for Crescent 'A' at Woolpack. A 180 score from Nigel Turton inspired Fulford Arms to victory against Ebor.
Les Scaife and Roger Pirrie were last-game match winners for division three leaders Leeman at Jackdaw, whose main contributor was John Harrison. Fine darts from John Quantock and Phil Good secured victory for Six Bells while Steve Healy and Craig Norrie combined to seal the 5-4 win for Post over Reindeer.
Consistent scores from Nick Katsarelis and Pete Duncan wrapped up the win for Hospital Social Club, however Crown's Paul Malloch made good reply to salvage the aggregate point. Paul Kellett shone for Bay Horse 'B' in their 6-3 victory over Ship.
