YORK MP Hugh Bayley has called on the directors of Bootham Crescent Holdings to return any profit to the football club.
Lending his support to the Save City campaign, Bayley said: "York City must be saved.
"When the club's assets, including Bootham Crescent itself, were hived off, supporters were told it was to protect the club.
"The directors have a right to clear their debts but not to make a windfall profit out of closing down the club.
"The contributions of York City supporters have helped to build Bootham Crescent over the years, and any profits from Bootham Crescent Holdings should be returned to the club."
Bayley has met with members of the working party of the Save City Committee and has promised to raise the club's plight with Sports Minister Richard Caborn.
Robert Havercroft, a member of the working party who attended the meeting said: "Our discussions with Hugh Bayley proved to be very positive.
"We were extremely pleased to learn that Mr Bayley fully supports our campaign and we look forward to holding further talks in the future."
