THE City of York Council and York MP Hugh Bayley should be pressured to make their preferences public about whether the club should be allowed to stay at Bootham Crescent.
The planning regulations allow the council to indicate whether City chairman Douglas Craig will be able to cash in by selling to someone who wants to build houses on the ground.
If they indicate he won't be able to get permission, he isn't going to walk away from a potential sale of the ground in a matter of weeks.
At the end of the day, something is better than nothing, even if it's below £4.5m.
Keep the club in the city where it belongs and end the talk of ground shares and relocation.
