RESIDENTS in Clifton are asking for the final decision on plans to build 24 flats on the site of the former Clifton Preparatory School in York to be delayed.
They want the latest application by Barratts to be held off until City of York Council has considered their application for an extension to Clifton Conservation Area.
Members of the Clifton Preservation Group believe this extension would give the area more protection against the flats application.
The flats application has already been passed once by City of York councillors, back in October, but is due to come before them again on January 31.
This is because of a legal challenge by the residents' group about the way in which the application was dealt with.
A public meeting agreed last week to send a letter to the council's chief executive, David Atkinson, asking for the planning application to be heard after the conservation area application had been dealt with. That is likely to come before a meeting in February.
