THE traditional pastime of feeding the ducks is not as harmless as it appears.
Stamford Bridge residents are so generous with their breadcrumbs that the birds have flown in from miles around to lap up the good life. Having grown in number, girth and confidence, they are causing a dreadful mess and holding up traffic.
There is now talk of a cull. But this is a little harsh. A more humane way to discourage the ducks should be sought; if sachets of orange sauce were placed on the riverbank, they might take the hint.
