A MOTORIST had a lucky escape when his car rolled down an embankment and ended up on its side after a collision with a hay lorry today.
The male driver was cut free by firefighters and taken to York District Hospital with minor injuries after the accident at Hopgrove roundabout, York.
His Vauxhall Omega was secured with straps to a police car to prevent it rolling into a ditch.
Station officer Michael Riley said: "He has had a very lucky escape as he has come off the edge of the carriageway.
"He was very fortunate not to roll into the ditch at the bottom of the embankment. We took out the front windscreen of the vehicle to allow paramedics to get to him."
TC Grant Gibson, of York Police, said: "It appears the car has clipped the front of the hay lorry on an apex and has been flipped over and rolled down the embankment. He is a very lucky man not to have been more seriously injured."
