STRIKER Stuart Douglas could be poised to line up against York City for the third time this season in his third different shirt.

Rushden & Diamonds' boss Brian Talbot, who was at Bootham Crescent on Tuesday as City beat Grimsby 1-0, has taken the Luton Town striker on trial at Nene Park.

And Douglas did his chances of earning a loan deal with the Division Three new boys no harm by scoring a first-half hat-trick for Diamond's reserves in their 5-1 triumph over Wimbledon in midweek.

Douglas has already featured against City when he appeared for the Hatters in their 2-1 triumph over City back in September.

He also played for Oxford United in the 2-2 draw with the Minstermen in November.

The 23-year-old went on loan to Oxford after falling down the pecking order with Joe Kinnear at Kenilworth Road.

Also on target in Rushden' reserves thumping win over the Dons was former City defender Ray Warburton.

It was Warburton's first outing of the season after a long standing groin injury and although he came through 60 minutes unscathed he is not expected to be involved tomorrow.

Diamonds entertain City on the back of a 4-2 win at Lincoln last week. However, they had lost three of their four previous games.

The visit of the Minstermen offers Talbot's men the chance to record their first League double after beating City 1-0 at Bootham Crescent on the opening day of the season.

Talbot is sweating on the fitness of striker Scott Partridge, who was taken off at half-time at Sincil Bank with a niggling foot injury.
