York Ladies moved into the final stages of the Yetton Trophy after beating Scarborough Ladies 88-74 in a tough match.
Playing at Scarborough, York's Carol Instone, Sue Kirkpatrick, Ann Redhead, and Joan Jackson led 14-0 after seven ends but then the home rink reduced the arrears to 17-13 after 15 ends.
Going into the last end Instone's rink led by three shots, but Scarborough got the required shots to draw the game 19-19.
Pat Napier, Sue Tomlinson, June Clayton, and Dot Kennelly led 21-18 going into the last end, but the home team scored four to win the game 22-21.
At York, Linda Harrison, Melanie Brooke, Joyce Chelin and Lynda Parker took control of their game at the 15th end when the score was 15-13. They stopped their opponents from scoring again and won 24-13.
Mary Wreglesworth, Trish Harrison, Maureen Walker and Madge Zimnoch were leading comfortably at 21-11 after 15 ends.
Scarborough scored nine shots in the last few ends but the home team won 24-20.
In the zone final York will play Blackpool Newton Hall, surprising winners over Cumbria by 13 shots.
York, in their third match of the season, dropped their first points of the term in the John Smith's Yorkshire League despite their 83-64 win against Metrodome.
Fortunately, York won two rinks and got the aggregate from both venues to claim ten points.
At Metrodome, York's Paul Mooring, John Emmerson, Graham Brooke and Graham Instone were 21-2 in front after only ten ends.
The home team then won five consecutive ends to reduce the arrears to ten shots, but then the visitors won four of the remaining ends to take the game 26-14.
In the other away rink Iain Boyle, Michael Bruce, Ted Boyle and Frank Turner surprisingly trailed from start to finish.
They were 6-0 down before they got on the scoreboard with a two on the fourth end.
The nearest Boyle's team came to taking the lead was when they scored a two on the 14th end to trail by one shot at 13-12 but the home team won four of the next five ends to lead 20-13 with two to play and they went on to win 20-15.
At York, David Stroughair, Mal Harrison, Phil Parsons and Dudley Williams were involved in a tight game up to the 11th end when they led 9-8. They then won all but one of the remaining ends, scoring a six on the 17th, to triumph 30-11.
In the other home rink, Dave Hewick, Barry Walker, John Walker and Doug Mitchell struggled to stay in the game after trailing 16-8 with 16 ends gone.
They won the next three ends but could reduce the arrears by only four before the visitors took the last two ends to win the game 19-12.
In same same Yorkshire League group, New Earswick picked up ten points from a good 86-71 win against Featherstone.
Playing at New Earswick, Ray Clark, Rod Walker, Paul Dawson and Stephen Long came from behind to win 27-13.
They won only winning three of the first 12 ends and trailed 12-5 but took all but one of the remaining ends, scoring a seven on the 14th end.
Bob Edwards, Dave Birch, Mick Stannard and John Allan trailed 10-0 after five ends and were still ten behind after 17 ends but won the last four to go down 21-17.
At Featherstone, Brian Gray, Kevin Fort, Tony Abbot and Ken Lippett trailed 10-7 after nine ends before scoring a five to take the lead and they won eight of the last 11 ends to triumph 27-17.
Ken Harrison, Bill Waldie, Ralph Tiplady and Harry Rhodes dropped five shots over the 14th and 15th ends to trail 16-10 and they went on to lose 20-15.
