YORK panto dame and TV actor Berwick Kaler is backing our campaign to Save City - and he's urging his audiences to show their support.
Berwick has ad libbed the York City saga into his nightly performance of Jack and the Beanstalk, currently packing the Theatre Royal.
He asks if anyone in the audience has any spare cash - and if they want to buy a football club.
Off-stage he is more serious about the plight of the beleaguered club: "I don't believe this city will allow the club to die," he said.
"We cannot let it happen. Somebody, somewhere will come up with the money. I really believe that.
"York City soccer club has been an important part of people's lives for so many years. If it were allowed to die, something would be missing from the heart of York.
"And as I say on stage, York is still in the FA cup - which is more than you can say for Sunderland."
