MOTORISTS using Foss Islands Road in York tonight and for the next three weeks may face some delays due to resurfacing work.
Tarmac Ltd National Contracting, contractors for the City of York Council, will be carrying out the work to cover the length of the road between the Layerthorpe and Hull Road junctions over the next three weeks.
But work will be restricted to the hours of 6pm until midnight, when temporary traffic lights will be in operation, to avoid serious traffic congestion.
Ray Chaplin, head of engineering consultancy at the council, said: "The carriageway resurfacing works will be carried out between 6pm and midnight, Monday to Saturday, to reduce the risk of potential traffic problems in the light of the Copmanthorpe roadworks.
"However, preparation works will be carried out during the day, with access to properties maintained at all times."
