IN planning terms Bootham Crescent is currently designated for leisure use and a statement from the leader of the City of York Council that it has no intention of allowing residential development will do much to dampen the ardour of the owners of for its sale.
It does not take much imagination to realise that the directors stand to make a fortune from its sale for housing development.
However, the Council does have it within its power to control any future development and should league football cease they can at least ensure that some other leisure use of benefit to the people of York takes its place.
