ROAD chiefs say they are expecting more severe delays on the A64 roadworks at Copmanthorpe, as the New Year "honeymoon period" ends.
Work has now switched to the westbound side of the A-road with traffic travelling both ways using the eastbound carriageway.
A spokeswoman for the Highways Agency said: "Since the roadworks started again, we've seen shorter queues than we did before Christmas, but obviously there's less traffic going through now than there was then."
A spokesman for AA Roadwatch said: "I think people still aren't back from holiday yet. We have had a rider up there every peak time and there's been nothing of the sort of queues we had before Christmas. It's good news so far for drivers."
